Search giant Google, which is one of the companies behind the mobile platform, Android, has just released a program to help people in the process of making applications to the operating system Android.
It writes New York Times.
The free software called Google App for Android Inventor, has been under development for a year.
Very young children and adolescents , including high school girls and nursing students, has tested the program, while Google has developed it. The target group is therefore very broad.
The idea behind the product is that mobiles are increasingly becoming people's primary computer. Therefore, users could create applications for themselves.
The tool allows people to drag and drop blocks of codes. They are shown as images , representing different options for smarthpones. The newspaper compares it to build with Lego.
An example of an application was a student who created a program, who told a group of friends where he was every 15 minutes . The student took the program by linking three blocs : The phone's location sensor , a clock and the third was a simple database from a website.
Another student created a program that automatically gave an SMS reply when he drove the car that he would not be disturbed.
A nursing student doing a program that sent a message when a person fell. The students used the device's accelerometer to detect decreased.
Harold Abelson , a computer scientist from the world- renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has led the project. He is also founding director of the Free Software Foundation, Public Knowledge and the Creative Commons. He stresses that applications that ordinary users can do, not advanced , but in return it's easy.
You must have a Google Account to use the tool. It is wbebaseret , except for a small piece of software that automatically synchronizes the program with your personal computer. Mobile must be connected to a computer via USB, when you make an application.
